Roaring Spring Borough

Roaring Spring Borough is located in south-central Blair County and is completely surrounded by Taylor Township.  The Borough encompasses 0.8 square miles of land and was home to a population of 2,585 in 2010.

Roaring Spring Borough rightfully received its name from the Big Spring of Morrison’s Cove. Geologists believe that the surrounding fertile limestone valley created a subterranean lake that produces this great natural spring. Roaring Spring Borough was established around the spring in the mid-1800s.  It provides an estimated eight million gallons of water on a daily basis, which flows into Spring Dam pond. The pond is filled with crystal clear water and is home to a variety of fish and other wildlife. The tributaries of Halter Creek and Cabbage Creek also flow through Roaring Spring Borough.
